ABEL, Carl Friedrich (1723-1787)
Abel was a supreme master of what was in his time the galantstyle. These sonatas for violoncello have been composed around 1782 during Abel's stay in Berlin, possibly for the Prussian crown prince Frederick William. The player of today likes them as a welcome addition of the early classic repertoire. They can also be used verywell for teaching.
